Mya Anthony Geneva Generali Marathon

In February 2024, my life changed when I sustained a concussion during a varsity cheerleading practice. Recovery hasn’t been straightforward, it's tested my patience, mental health, and sense of identity as an athlete. I used to push through the pain and exhaustion, but this experience taught me that strength means slowing down, listening to your body, and giving yourself time to heal.

Nearly two years later, I’m still learning what recovery really means. Some days I feel like myself again, and some days I don’t, and that’s okay. This fundraiser is a reminder that healing takes time, and that this journey will always be part of my story.

Concussion recovery can feel confusing and isolating, and it’s often hard to know where to start. The Concussion Legacy Foundation has been an incredible resource, offering education and support for people at every stage of recovery.

Running has become a symbol of resilience and a way to celebrate how far I’ve come, even if the journey isn’t over. On May 10, 2026, I’ll be running the Geneva Generali Marathon—something a year ago I didn’t believe I’d be able to do. I’m dedicating this race to Concussion Legacy Foundation Canada to raise awareness. Every donation helps advance concussion research, improve education, and ensure that no one faces recovery alone.
